Who is this suitable for?
Employers have to complete a needs assessment in the workplace for first aid requirements, and the 1-day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification satisfies the statutory HSE obligations of the employer for smaller and low risk workplaces.
If the needs assessment indicates that employees may be faced with life-threatening incidents or even where they might have to manage illness, injury, poisoning or burns then the FAW is the course that meets this need.
Learning is as practical as possible, including scenarios, videos, group collaboration and a slideshow.
Topics include; roles & responsibilities, dealing with collapse (with and without breathing), choking, bleeding, shock, seizures, minor workplace incidents, major illnesses, common and serious workplace injuries, poisoning, anaphylactic shock, burns treatment, eye injuries and using first aid kit.
The course is assessed by continual observation of candidate performance and a brief Multiple Choice Questionnaire
This qualification consists on one unit. Certificates are usually issued within two weeks from the course date.
The qualification is revalidated by attending another training course after 3 years.
